We need to obey

We need to obey

Our King is amazing.

He revealed to me an awesome truth this weekend.
That is, we need to obey God, we know this, BUT it is not obey in the negative and overwhelming way initially felt… it is that love and faith BRING obedience. True love and faith bring obedience… it makes so much sense when you consider Jesus saying that to love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind is the greatest commandment and when James says that faith without works is dead meaning that if the faith and love is not REAL the obedience will not be there; the obedience is proof of the faith and love. Very awesome reality.

Thank you Lord for showing me this.

Rom 6:22 and 1 Peter 1:9 both talk about the Outcome of our Faith/ the goal of our faith / the Fruit, being the salvation of our souls / eternal life. Our good works—our obedience in love are a blessing to God and to others but also to ourselves—as continual assurance (“proof”, if you need it) of God’s grace and truth.

The evidence of our rock solid future, is the fruit that we see in our lives—this is our blessed assurance—deep, deep comfort in the Truth—proof of our salvation. Marvelous.

Eph 2:8 and 9 are classical favorite verses on saving grace, but you MUST continue to verse 10 to see the point of it all “Saved for good works, prepared in advance for us to do”.
