Apple Wired Mighty Mouse not right-clicking!

I have a wired Apple Mighty Mouse that (until now) would right-click when I clearly wanted a left click. I have a wireless Mighty Mouse as well and do not experience the same issue with it. What I have found is that if I have been hovering my hand over the mouse and just placing my fingertips on the left and right spots. But when I use the wireless version I end up resting my whole hand on the mouse… I suppose it is the lack of battery weight in the wired version. By resting my whole hand on the wired version it is working flawlessly… woohoo! Just takes a little getting used to, but, at least in my case, it didn’t take long at all since I already use the wireless version this way. I suppose that’s why the advertisement picture says “Give it a HAND”… doh!

Here are some suggestions on what to do to get used to this change:

  • Get rid of the wrist rest for your mouse if you have one!
  • Notice that you do not need to arch your hand and click with your left finger to get a nice solid left-click.
  • Note that all you need to do to make a right-click is lift up your left finger.
  • Oh yea, you don’t need to lift any part of your hand (fingers included) to do a left-click.
  • Place your whole hand on the mouse and just practice clicking on a file to highlight it and then right-click it.
  • Probably the hardest thing to do is to get used to scrolling and not reverting back to your old ways after you’re done.

Oh well, I hope that helps someone. If you have any questions just write a comment.
